Strogillo wall – Skopelos

exploring the wall

Divesite description:

The Strogillo Wall, situated on the western side of Strogilo Island near Skopelos, is a captivating underwater marvel that beckons divers to explore its secrets. As adventurers anchor their boats in proximity to the wall, they prepare to embark on a journey into the mesmerizing depths of the Aegean Sea.

Upon descending to the planned depth, divers are greeted by the imposing presence of the Strogillo Wall. Its sheer vertical drop creates a breathtaking underwater vista, with marine life thriving in the rich ecosystem that surrounds this geological wonder. The wall itself is a kaleidoscope of colors, adorned with vibrant corals, sponges, and an array of underwater flora.

As divers follow the bottom next to the wall, a hidden world begins to unfold. The water clarity enhances the visibility, allowing them to marvel at the intricate details of the marine life inhabiting the nooks and crannies of the underwater terrain. Schools of fish gracefully navigate the currents, creating a ballet of movement that adds to the enchantment of the dive.

A highlight of the exploration is the discovery of a cavern wide enough to accommodate two divers. This submerged grotto invites the adventurous to venture into its depths, revealing an ethereal realm of shadows and ambient light. Inside, the silence is only broken by the rhythmic sound of bubbles escaping from the divers’ regulators, creating an otherworldly experience.

Continuing along the Strogillo Wall, divers gradually ascend to shallower depths. The transition introduces a different facet of the underwater environment, with sunlight penetrating the water and casting a warm glow on the surroundings. The wall, now less imposing but equally captivating, showcases a variety of marine species adapted to the changing conditions.

Throughout the dive, divers may encounter fascinating creatures such as moray eels, octopuses, and sea turtles, adding an element of surprise to the exploration. The Strogillo Wall, with its diverse topography and marine life, stands as a testament to the allure of underwater adventures in the Greek Isles, offering a memorable experience for those who seek the wonders hidden beneath the surface of the Aegean Sea.
